THE LEGACY OF THE FOUR PILLARS

After the world had taken shape, the Four Pillars left the last trace of themselves throughout creation. That gift is Onulë: the Ancestral Essence within every creature and every thing, capable of shaping and influencing the world around it.

A constellation of five stars recalls that beginning in the night sky. Each star corresponds to one of the five archetypes, the different paths through which Essence can be shaped.

THE AWAKENING

ARKÄ

Arkä is the Awakening: a creature expands its Ladrië, its consciousness, and begins to perceive the Essence within. Those who reach this state are called Arkaër, the Awakened. One experience does not confer mastery. They must learn to reach Onulë again, sustain its manifestation and recognise their own limits. Essence used without form or command can consume the body’s life force, so training begins with care and with the words of Allusaër.

A bond with the Celestials brings Essence into harmony with the Qiellör, allowing it to be received as a gift.

The Arcane Awakening

Through study and experiment, mortals learned to force access to their own Essence. The Galdri path requires knowledge and care in facing the risks of Onulë; awakening does not replace learning to control it.

An exceptionally rare, innate gift for connecting with Essence, fulfilling a mysterious will older than the Qiellör themselves.

Allusaër and the shaping of Onulë

During creation, the Qiellör taught Allusaër to the peoples of Tëimur. Its words express the intention of those who shape Onulë, defining a technique’s form, strength and purpose. Learning the language broadens an Arkaër’s possibilities; peoples who have forgotten it rely on grimoires. Working safely without it requires extraordinary mastery.

Paths of Essence

THE ONUL AND THE FIVE ARCHETYPES

Each Awakened being’s affinity manifests in one of the five colours of Onulë. It is revealed through the Onul: a rare, precious Essence Stone, transparent and shaped like a small mountain. Tália teaches that these stones fall from the sky, from the former dwelling of the Pillars, and were given to mortals by the Qiellör. The Onul helps establish harmony: by touching it and sustaining their Essence, an Arkaër makes it glow in the colour of their archetype.

ORNAN

CONTROL · REGULATE

Ornan concerns the control and regulation of Essence. Its foundation technique, Akoila: Attune, changes the strength with which Onulë manifests. With training, an Arkaër can project their influence at a distance, disguise the qualities of their own Essence and conceal it from others’ perception.

Empathy begins this learning: feeling what another feels. From it grow the abilities to persuade, intimidate and communicate mind to mind. Because Ornan connects with a place and the life around it, its reach can extend into nature. Its associated attribute is Charisma, expressed through influence and authority.

NOAN

CONSOLIDATE · STRENGTHEN

Noan gathers Essence and moves it through the body. Afora: Intensify strengthens the Awakened being’s physical potential and can also disperse Essence in the surrounding environment. Its associated attribute is Athletics, encompassing strength and dexterity.

Training begins with Reflexes and develops into Agility and Resilience. The Arkaër learns to respond more precisely, move more efficiently and sustain greater effort. Body and senses can be strengthened as the density and circulation of their Onulë improve.

URAN

PRESERVE · RESTORE

Uran governs the flow of Essence between bodies. Through Aruma: Flow, the Awakened can transfer Onulë to restore strength, treat injuries, stop bleeding and combat infection. Its affinity is associated with Constitution, stamina and vitality.

Mastery of this flow reaches beyond healing. At higher levels, it can preserve life, draw out vital energy or cause wounds and illness. What a Uran can do depends on their training and how they choose to use it. The colour of their Essence does not decide those choices.

LOMAN

CONCEIVE · CREATE

Loman gives form to Essence. Olaga: Shape allows Onulë to be materialised or an existing form to be altered. This work depends on imagining and understanding what is to be made. Its associated attribute is Intelligence, with an emphasis on intellect and creativity.

Imagination begins this development. Through Idealisation, creations become denser and more complex. Invention allows the Arkaër to devise forms of their own that can affect the surrounding world. At higher levels, they can preserve their creations for longer periods.

Purple

ËRKAN

FULFIL · EMBODY

Ërkan is the Purple Archetype, known as the Perfect. Its nature is mysterious: each Awakened being finds a distinct way of working with Essence. Freedom and uniqueness are its foundations. Transmutation, which can incorporate existing characteristics into Onulë, is one of its most basic expressions. It is so rare that many Arkaër never meet one.

This singular affinity does not replace the training shared by all Arkaër. Asina, the perception of Essence, is one of the seven techniques taught to every first-year student. Ërkan is distinguished by the particular way Onulë’s possibilities meet, rather than by exclusive possession of any one of those techniques.
