THE LANGUAGE OF TËIMUR

Allusaër is the Ancestral Language, taught by the Qiellör to the peoples of Tëimur. Its name joins Allus, beauty, with usaër, to speak: Beautiful Speech. It has thirty-seven forms of the verb to see and eleven words for light. For an Arkaër, learning those distinctions is part of mastering Essence: words determine what it must do, how much it must use and where it must stop.

WORDS AND ESSENCE

BEAUTIFUL SPEECH

Many Allusaër words are formed by joining others. Äl, placed before a noun, makes it plural: ulfor means one wolf, and älulfor means several. Lä forms the collective läulfor, a pack. The language also distinguishes precisely between actions that happen once and those that continue over time.

That distinction matters when using Onulë. Saying that protection happened once is different from commanding it to continue. In Melin Agureilif’s lessons, students learn to pronounce, choose and combine words before relying on them in training. A verb’s tense can change a technique’s duration; a poorly chosen command may end it while it is still needed.
